Q. Is there any action I must take before the transportation?

A. Yes. Clean out your vehicle of all loose items as much as possible. Leave nothing of value in the vehicle. Rarely is anything ever stolen, but why take a risk, right? Keep extra items to a minimum and placed in the trunk or out of sight. Have only about a quarter tank of gasoline. Give the auto transport carrier a set of keys and advise them of anything special or unusual as nobody likes surprises like dead batteries, etc.

Q. How long does it take to ship my car?

A. The delivery time depends entirely upon the distance the vehicle travels. Cross country moves typically take 10-14 days. A move from either coast to the center of the country will take 5-10 days. When you receive a quote from us you will also receive the transit time for your move.

Note:

  • Make sure that your vehicle has enough fuel to get it to and off the trailer.
  • Record the mileage on your odometer.
  • Record your vehicle as it is being attached to the trailer. You should have video of any area of your car that could be damaged.

Q. Can anything be packed in my vehicle?

A. Yes. A limited weight is allowed on the trailer. For our customers, we provide 100lbs extra space without any extra charges. If you need to pack more luggage, you should talk to our agents to know how much the weight of the additional luggage is and how much the price will be. The driver isn’t responsible for personal or household items. Our carriers are strictly automotive carriers.

Q. Do I have to be present when you pick up or deliver my vehicle?

A. Yes, you or your designated individual must be present at both the pickup and delivery for when the auto shipping or car transport company arrives.

Q. How does the insurance work?

A. San Francisco Car Transport provides licensed and insured services at no additional cost to you.

Q. Can I still get a quote if I don’t know the exact address?

A. Yes. Enter the most-specific information you have. If you have a zip code use that. In case you only know the city, we can still calculate a quote. If you only know vaguely where it is being shipped to or from, use a major city you think you might be transported to or from to get a good idea of what it will cost.

Q. Will my vehicle be driven at all?

A. If you are shipping your vehicle, it will typically be driven only on and off the truck – to load it and in some cases to unload and load other vehicles. Otherwise, it will stay on the truck until it gets to your destination. If using a terminal, it will also be driven from the terminal onto the truck and to a parking location at the terminal. If you are concerned about it being driven more than that, you can check your odometer when your vehicle is picked up and dropped off. In addition, if you are using a driveaway service, a driver will drive your vehicle from your origin to your destination.

Q. Do you haul non-op vehicles?

A. Yes. We do ship vehicles that don’t run. We provide all the needed equipment to move that kind of vehicles.
